14 Days Later

In 14 days Rhinebeck will happen. Actually, it might be 15 days depending on how you like to count. But it’s 14 knitting days and that is the important thing. Of course the sweater I am wearing to the festival has not yet been knit. I have some of the body done, and really feel like it’s definitely doable to finish this in two weeks (especially with the long weekend coming up), but I know I have been slacking. Maybe slacking isn’t quite the right word here, maybe I should say distracted instead.

Yes, everytime I have a deadline, I cast on for a new project. I know. It’s horrible. I am a total knitting flake. But I couldn’t help it! I was tired of these (even though I still think they are gorgeous, and I have a feeling they will be my Yarn Saffari bus knitting):

Damn Socks

And the spinning and sweater are just not portable. So nothing has been done except for over half of this:

Loving the stitch pattern and I am loving the yarn colours. It’s the “So Called Scarf” pattern.

Oh, wait, now that I think of it, I have worked on other things. I did manage to knock out a pair of booties in a larger size for the little chunker baby set, which is also kinda deadline knitting so at least I am completing some things. It looks like a bit of finishing is in order tonight and then I can mail it all out either Saturday or Monday. No pictures yet, let’s wait until they actually look like something instead of just blobs.

To get the baby surprise jacket all finished up I had to go to Windsor Buttons and pick up some wooden toggles (I got this idea from someone, can’t remember who, and it stuck in my head). While I was there I picked up buttons, yarn, and a couple magazines. Apparently when I have knitting deadlines the only other reasonable thing to do is buy more yarn. *sigh*

Tofutsies Sock Yarn - Crabs?

I got two colours of this Tofutsies yarn. It has CHITIN in it, which is made from crab and shrimp shells. Doesn’t smell like the ocean, but it does kind of look like it:

I also picked up some Malabrigo in worsted for a cool hat (thinking cables and earflaps, with hopefully enough left over for a pom-pom) and some in laceweight as well (which may go towards the Swiss Cheese Scarf, we’ll see!)

Blah. So much for a yarn diet before Rhinebeck! Hopefully in the next two weeks I can control myself. If you see me in a yarn store, get me outta there. Tell the owners I am stealing yarn, or have a bomb strapped to my chest, or have a contagious disease. Anything to help me save for Rhinebeck.

I’ve got to say that you have such amazing yarn photos, I’m always blown away! The colours are phenomenal.

I love the colours in the So Called Scarf. Gorgeous!
Is Rhinebeck really just two weeks away? I’m stoked, looks like I’ll be going this year too.

Lady, those yarns are LUSCIOUS! And in my opinion, if you’re not inspired by what you’re knitting, knit something else. And shop. Of course.

I found the tufooties smelt a bit funky (not like the ocean at all) and didn’t really go after washing either - but that might have just been my ball.

I have the Swiss Cheese Scarf in my Ravelry queue. Which doesn’t mean I’ll actually get to it any time soon. But I’m really in love with it!
