At Least I Got Something Done
The Cami is being difficult. The straps are all that is left, and they are finicky. I am trying about a million and a half different things, but I don’t really like any of them. It might be me that is being difficult, and not the Cami. Nevertheless, I decided to work on things that actually don’t seem like a daunting task at this point.
As in:
The Smokey Rainbow Roving is now Smokey Rainbow Yarn. Huzzah! It’s not what I expected it to look like, although I had no idea what to expect anyways. I enjoyed the process of just blindly trying stuff (like there is anything else I can do at this point in the learning curve) and it added greatly to my understanding of dying and then spinning up roving. This yarn is not my favourite, but it certainly has it’s charm. I ended up with roughly 598 yards of fingering to dk/sport weight yarn. My spinning was somehow less consistent this time around, possibly because it was SO MUCH YARN. I was getting a little weary in the end. The yarn needs a wash and a weighting, it isn’t as nicely balanced as my last try. I also underplied it a bit in areas, oops!
But on the whole it’s exciting to have made enough yarn to actually knit something with it. I have loads of little bits and pieces, most are not even enough for a hat, from my forays with my drop spindle. But this is actually yardage here. It’s something. I may never get around to knitting with it, but I could if I wanted to and that’s a nice thought.
For knitting, it seems like all I want to work on are the Jaywalkers. I don’t think you can blame me though, this Regia is MAGIC. Behold!
As if I could stop even if I wanted to with yarn that is working up like this. There is only one word for this yarn - FUN. I giggle like a school girl everytime I come across a colour change. The fact that I worked a picot hem that took EXACTLY all the dark orange brought me more joy than all the chocolate in the world. I am in love with this yarn and don’t know what I will do when I actually finish what I am now calling The Screamingly Joyous Clown Socks.
Fun.
