Currently It Looks Like Spring
Finally! Sunshine and bright skies. We’ve had a rough week in New England.
There are other reasons for me to celebrate. I have finished a project that I have been working on since January 2006. Well, nearly.
This stole only needs an edging. But considering the amount of time I have spent on it, it must have the right edging. The perfect edging. An edging to end all edgings. I have looked through all my lace books and couldn’t find a single one that was good enough. Something web-like, light, and … well, perfect. It needs to match this:
I suppose it can wait a little longer until the right edging comes along. In the meantime I can knit on an extra-warm sweater that is left over from my winter knitting. Spring is definitely time to clean house.
It’s knit out of some random yarn I noticed on knitpicks that they don’t have anymore. It was only on their site for a short time and I don’t think it was ever a constant stock of yarn, which is too bad. It’s called “Wakashan”, 100% baby alpaca. It’s very soft and heavy, perfect for next winter. With the way I have been going, I probably won’t finish until next winter anyways. Here is a sleeve, this is a modified pattern from Rowan Vintage Knits, “Cherie” by Kim Hargreaves. I am knitting it in the round, ala Elizabeth Zimmerman.
I have the body up to the sleeve join and one more sleeve left before I can join it up and finish it off.
I’ve finally got this website almost fully functional. I may transfer my shop over to here instead of etsy, but that’s a whole other bag of worms.
