It’s Done! (Or How Many Times I Can Say “Excited” In One Post)

Wicked is done and needs to be blocked, which can happen tonight. I also need to block the Cherie sweater I finished a bit back so I can take some modeling pics for you.

Jessica asked in my comments yesterday why the sweater looks like it’s so differently coloured from one picture to the next. Part of it is that I am lazy and don’t bother to do post-processing on my yarn pictures (unless you count my occasional use of auto-levels). The other reason is that I take my pictures at different times of the day and the light in new England can vary wildly. In the picture where the sweater looks more grey it was overcast and noonish, from what I remember. In the warmer (and more accurate, colour-wise) pictures it was evening, with golden light, and my lamp may have also been on (causing a lot more yellow).

If it matters, my favourite pictures are taken in the shade on a very sunny day. I usually find those the most accurate for colour.

Very exciting!

I managed to block something I knit over six months ago, my own version of Lucky from Stitch N’ Bitch Nation. I changed the sleeve length and a couple other details to make it less fiddly when you wear it. No pictures of it today though, as I got home from dinner (Thai food, mmmmmm) after dark.

There are some very exciting things happening in my life right now, aside from finishing and blocking so many sweaters. Today was my first day at my new job, and I had a really good time. I think it will be a nice, fresh change for me and I am so looking forward to going to work tomorrow.

The other exciting things have more to do with knitting. I bought two Greesleeves Spindles, a Loki and a Mjoliner, and… I bought a spinning wheel. A real, honest-to-goodness spinning wheel. I have no idea where in the house I can put it, but I bought it and I can’t wait for it to get here. It should be here on July 5th, which is going to be a momentous day. It’s a Mazurka wheel, and I did indeed buy it from The Woolery. The website is a little odd to navigate, but the price was good and I wanted some of the fawn alpaca top to go with my new wheel. I will be sure to let you know how it arrives!

So excited, my life feels all spanky and new. And because there were no pics today, I will let the blog mascot, Nibbler, entertain you. This is my favourite pic of my little man, with my bigger man holding him:
