More Finished

I have completed a couple more things this weekend that were nagging at me and now I feel like I can focus on completing even more things that are nagging at me.

For some reason when I get my fibre of the month selections I feel like I need to spin them right away. It bothers me if they are sitting there for a while because then it’s untimely. If it’s a halloween colour, then I better get it spun soon. But I need my wheel free to get to it, so I had to finish up the merino tencel blend that was Septembers selection.

My idea with this roving was to spin a nice light three-ply lace, but with only two ounces I didn’t want to lose that much yardage. A two ply would have to do. I split the roving in half and spun it from beginning to end so that when I plied it would keep the colour runs consistent. This worked better than I thought it would (as I kinda just eyeball everything due to laziness) and I ended up with only this left on the bobbins after plying:

Spunky Eclectic - Aspen Left

Pretty amazing! I like a nice fluke. The yarn ended up being about 250 yards of a lace to fingering weight. I really like it and think it’s my nicest stuff so far. Can’t wait to find the perfect pattern to knit with it.

So because I cleared out my wheel, I started and finished the October selection in one sitting. It went by so quickly! Here is “Goblin Eyes”:

Spunky Eclectic - Goblin Eyes

I nearly plied it all onto one bobbin, but had to give up with 20 yards left. So close! I need a bigger flyer. It’s 140 yards of a chunky weight yarn, two ply.

For those of you that were wondering what the mystery project was from the last post, it’s the Leavened Raglan from Interweave Knits Fall 2007. It’s a super quick bulky knit and I am nearly all finished it even though I might have only put in 6 hours of knitting time on it. Once I finish it up I am going to focus on getting some other WIP’s I have completed, as well as a bit of sweater editing I need to take care of. I hate it when I put a sweater on and think, “this needs to be two inches longer”.

Something in the fall air is making me feel like it’s spring!

Oh, and I do have a quickie surprise FO, pics of that tomorrow as I only just took them this morning before I left for work today.
