New Hampshire Sheep and Wool, 2008

So now that I have slogged through most of my photos and picked my very favourites, I can finally write about the super fun day I had inhaling sheep fumes and spending money like a mad man. First, the company. I went with Lyndsay and Heidi, two super awesome yarn buddies. Heidi and I are getting Lyndsay into the spinning fold. It’s kinda contagious.

NH Sheep and Wool

This was my first NH sheep and Wool, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. In comparison to Rhinebeck this is quite a smaller, more intimate festival. I may like it more. I know you can’t believe I just said that, right? Well Rhinebeck is massive, packed, and kinda elite. NH Sheep and Wool is just down-to-earth and really laid back. Also, for some unknown reason, they had everything I have ever wanted to buy in my crafting life there. Not that I am going to miss out on Rhinebeck or anything, but still. There is something to be said for these smaller venues. It’s not all about popularity people!

Now on to the pics! Animals first, of course.

First up, wittle baebie wamby with wittle milksies around it’s wittle mowf! AWWWW!

NH Sheep and Wool

Alpaca! Or wait, Llama! Or.. why does it look like a horse?

NH Sheep and Wool

This little guy was trying to hide behind a fence. Hah, didn’t work fella, I got a picture of you anyways. I’m like the animal paparrazi. Snap!

NH Sheep and Wool

This lamb was so adorable, for both colour and curl.

NH Sheep and Wool

Ever seen a recently shorn alpaca? They look like bobble heads.

NH Sheep and Wool

And just your good ol’ regular sheep, dutifully growing hair for all of us knitting maniacs.

NH Sheep and Wool

I think that takes care of most of the fun animal shots. Now on to some other attractions! How about a sheep parade? Oh, wait, that’s still animals. Well, here is the parade anyways.

NH Sheep and Wool

How about a miniature sweater parade?

How about a picture of Jonathan Bosworth holding a book charkha?

NH Sheep and Wool

Wait, I think I made a mistake there. Did I say he was holding a book charkha?

I meant to say he was holding MY book charkha.

Yes, I splurged. I couldn’t help it, I am weak when intoxicated by fibre and greasy french fries. I had to buy it. At least this way I know it went to a good home. And yes, I also got some fibre. Yak (soft as a cloud and so beautiful to spin up), angora and cormo. The angora is for the charka, the cormo is just because I’ve wanted it forever, and the yak is a present to myself. I apparently don’t think I get enough presents, but clearly that is not the case as I got a new laceweight drop spindle as well. Ahhh, indulgence.

All in all, a successful day or making myself just a little bit emptier in the pocket book. I <3 NH Sheep and Wool!

Those photos are beautiful! Are you sure the curly haired sheep isn’t a goat though? Sure look like a goat!

That one picture with the freshly shorn alpaca? Mildly terrifying.
