No Weight Lost
I did really well on my stash diet and I feel like there was a dent made in the dark depths of my under-the-bed yarn storage system. But after all that abstinence, all it took was five “visits” to a yarn store to get the yarn packed in so tight again that there is NO WAY I can purchase any more. I just can’t. Thinking of my stash right now makes me reel a little with giddy happiness, and then feel a fright that can’t quite be described when I think of having to actually knit all of that yarn. Of course, this doesn’t mean that I am not hoping for some yarn gifts for Valentine’s day. Heh. Gluttony at it’s finest.
I don’t think it would be wise to show all my purchases, lest you start thinking I have no self control (of course, that assumes you don’t already think that). So instead I will show you my three favourties.
It’s Lionbrand Fisherman’s Wool. Yes, 100% wool. From Lionbrand. And I LOVE it. It has loads of yardage, 465 yards. And the price? $9 per skein. NINE DOLLARS. This is some cheap, good wool. Cheap cheap cheap! And good. Love.
I also bought some really neat coloured Madeline Tosh sock yarn in a crazy mix of hot pinks and dark browns.
My third favourite thing is this shetland lamb / cashmere blend. Yes, odd combo, isn’t it? But it feels really great in the ball and I bet it will knit up great! I bought it in white and blue for some colourwork mitts.
Well, other than that I have been working on the scarf, which is endless, and some mitts. I had to cast on new mittens as the bubble pullover is not working in that blue yarn. I’ll find something else in the stash for it, but needed something to keep my mind occupied until I felt like stash diving. So, here are the beginnings of Annemor #11 from Selbuvotter.
I like them so far, but the yarn I chose wasn’t really thought out so well. It’s Merino Soft by GGH and its a bit round and squishy for colourwork. It’s like a coiled little spring. But they are working out alright with a little pickyness. Okay, I’m off for a little stash dive. If I don’t surface by the morning send a team in after me.

Ohh I really like the fishermen’s wool. Yeah, the GGH isn’t perfect for those mittens, but I still think it looks nice. It’s almost as though the stitches are too defined.
So, I’ve cast on for the Aquaphobia socks! Umm.. But my guage is waaay off. I think I’m getting 6 stitches per inch. Who woulda thought I was such a loose knitter? It’s really a great pattern, though, so I’m just going to rip it and reknit it. It’s going to be great.

Awwww. At least what you showed has a purpose so you know you can knit it out again. Can’t wait to get something started from selbuvotter myself!

You’ll have to tell me what you think of the Madeline Tosh yarn - I’ve heard mixed reviews and I’m trying to knit down some of the stash before I go buying more sock yarn.

I love that pattern you are using for the mittens! Just gorgeous. It looks like the colourwork is coming along just fine. And that fisherman’s wool- SO yummy!

I might have to steal this title from you! Great yarn purchases, and I’m really intrigued by the Lionbrand. What’s the recommended needle size? I’m thinking big fat blankie.
