Oh Man

I feel behind! There was no posting due to the madness that is Rhinebeck, and it was lovely. First, let’s talk about what I wore. I went with my Rona Shawl. Why? Well… the weather was warm. But more importantly, while my sweater was very pretty and even finished on time, I became impatient with the drying. So I put it in a dryer, originally hoping to watch it and make sure it would be okay. Instead, I ran errands and left it on its own. The poor thing didn’t have a chance. It shrunk. I can pull it on if I like to wear sweaters that are more corset than comfy, but instead I may just gift it to my little sister.

Oops

Booo. Just to prove it really is felted:

Oops

As always, the white didn’t felt as much as the other colours. I heard that this was because to have lighter yarn a lot of yarns are bleached and that impacts the fibers so that they are less likely to felt. Interesting!

Just so you don’t think I am taking this too lightly, I cried for half an hour at my own stupidity. It’s not as horrible as you would think though, because now I can make a second one and add more shaping to it so it doesn’t bag out just under my breasts. I hate that! The odd part about all of this is that the first sweater used exactly HALF of the yarn I had in my stash. That means a second one is almost like perfect planning. So with that spirit in mind, I meant to ruin shrink wreck make this sweater and give it to my sister.

So back to Rhinebeck. It was a blast! I shopped until my feet couldn’t take it anymore.

Looooot!

See? Stuff! But there are no details yet. I need to save that for a second post. I am still recuperating and trying to take pictures. To keep you from deserting me altogether, I will show you what I am knitting on and what I bought before Rhinebeck. I am sure I am not the only person who buys things the week before a large festival. Right?

The Aquaphobia socks, which were worked on while on the bus. The pattern is nearly complete, I am knitting the second sock and will soon be passing it off to some test knitters. Be excited! The cable is hiding in the ditch. Trust me; they are devastating when on a foot.

Socks!

And fibre from Hello Yarn. A 1 lb. bag of Romney roving (sheepy deliciousness!) and 2 4 oz. bags of her “Warmed” merino fluffy stuff. MMM!

Tasty! Next time, all my Rhinebeck purchases, as well as what I have been spinning.

Oh, that’s terrible! I mean, good for you for being a good sister, but I found myself actually wincing when I read the fate of your gorgeous road to golden! Good thing you had Rhinebeck, which at least helps to cushion the blow…..
