That Was A Stretch

I haven’t made an update in a couple of days because I had a really busy week. I spent a lot of time preparing for a super fun beach and BBQ day at my house and actually getting knitting done.

Let’s start with the good stuff first, then we will go to … well, something that is not good.

Good: I actually took finished pictures of some knits I did recently and some I did a while back so I could add them to Ravelry. Out of the older knits I only took pictures of some of my favourites (and I still have some more to do).

Norwegian Baby Hat

Something not for myself, Norwegian Baby Hat. Isn’t it cute? Totally love how the Hand Dyed Yarn worked up. Scrumptious! I have some other pieces in the set to make and can’t wait to cast on with the delicious yarn.

Donkey Mitts!

Donkey Mitts! God I love these mitts. I bought a pair almost just like these and wore them out so I had to re-create them. Heee-haw!

"Lucky" Sweater Wrap

Lucky Wrap. This was actually knit about a year ago and sat lounging around with imperfect finishing for far too long. I did the last five minutes of work on it yesterday and am now satisfied enough to actually wear it. I have to say that the pattern is a bit odd, the front pieces are not as large as the back ones for some reason? But it’s good enough to wear now that it has enough modifications to choke a horse.

Finished Wicked Sweater

Wicked! Okay, this was done a bit ago but I was being lazy about taking finished pictures. But here it is, and it’s one of my favourite sweaters I have ever knit.

Made Up Sweater

Random Sweater. Just something I made up as I went along for some mindless circular knitting. It actually came out pretty cute, surprisingly. It looks better on.

Finished Cherie Sweater

Cherie Sweater. I like this a lot. I needed just a plain black sweater for the winter, and now I have one. I have really been focusing my knitting time on things for myself lately and I can’t say that I regret it one bit.

I had actually waited on showing these projects because I wanted to take pictures of myself actually wearing the sweater. But a day after BBQ and beer is NOT the day to take pictures.

So what is the bad part? Well, remember the grey cabled socks that I was sooooo excited about nearly finishing? I worked on them last night and this morning while on the train. I nearly got to the toe decreases when I noticed something. Something horrible. Apparently because I spent too much time in between the socks I couldn’t remember how many rows I did before the heel shaping. To figure it out I counted the cables. Let’s just say that that is NOT an accurate way of counting rows. I basically messed up and did one more cable before the heel shaping on the second sock so they are NOT THE SAME HEIGHT. By like, four rows. I know it doesn’t seem like much and it probably won’t matter once I am wearing them but on the inside I just HATE IT.

Tonight I am going to meet up with new knitting people! I am nervous and excited at the same time. Maybe they can help me think of a way to magically fix the uneven socks.

I know I need to annouce the winner of the Mystery Knitting, which will be done on the next update, along with what the Mystery Prize is. Betcha can’t wait!

Holy crap!! Those are the coolest mittens ever. Gah! I bet you wish it was winter so you could be wearing them!

Lovely everything! I especially love Cherie and Wicked. I’ve been working on Lucky on and off for about 3 years now, and have one hell of a hard time getting into the pattern. I do want to finish it on day, but for now, she is a UFO.
