The Refresher
So what happened? Where did I go? Or more importantly, who the hell am I, anyways?
Well, I have been knitting for nearly ten years now and enjoy it immensely. I even taught knitting for a couple years at a yarn store in Arlington, MA. It was fun, but I really appreciate the income that a full-time job can bring. My stash has greatly improved.
I am obsessed with very particular aspects of knitting. I like the repetitiveness - it calms me. I enjoy lace knitting the most as it requires the most focus. I am always knitting socks. My favourite fibre is Alpaca, closely followed by silk, closely followed by merino. But truly, I love them all. I smell the fibres. Yes, I stick them right into my face and inhale deeply. AHHHHH. It’s okay, I usually do this in the privacy of my own home as there are folks out there who don’t understand us “sniffers” and might think I am weird or something. I know you understand. You probably smell yarn yourself. Or pet it. Or use it as decoration around your house.
So as for where I have been, let’s start with where I was. I had a previous blog under “www.knitfreak.com” that I let get overgrown with html weeds as it was too much to keep up with. I was coding everything by hand because I understand html but not necessarily the beasts called “hosts”. Well, it turns out that learning how to get the host to work for you is a lot easier than archiving entries by coding basic html. Who knew! Wordpress is a great and glorious thing, and I am very excited that I am going to have something organize this whole mess for me.
As for this blog, I am sure it will be an active place with photos and lots of fun discussion about knitting. I welcome comments and am looking forward to getting in touch with all my old “blog-friends”.
Also, I did write up a couple simple patterns quite a bit ago, and I have kept them here for you to use. Feel free to check them out and notice that there are no pictures! Yes, yes, I know it’s all pretty bare-looking in here. This long weekend will be a time of file sorting and image inserting. My life is that exciting.
It’s good to be back!

As a webgeek myself, I always felt a little guilty to be using a canned packae like Wordpress. Even though it rocks. And then I thougth to myself, do you think Wolfgang Puck only eats gourmet, every meal of the day? Does Eric Clapton listen only to his own music? So I don’t feel so guilty any more.
