What I Needed Was

The long weekend did wonders for my knitting and spinning productivity, not to mention my tummy. It felt really good to just focus on some things I felt I needed to take care of (and eat!). Lots was done, not the least of which is this:

"Warmed" Hello Yarn

It’s 940 yards of the squishiest merino ever. It took ages to spin and I totally hated the process, but in the end I can’t complain because I love what it became. Now to figure out what the hell I am supposed to make with all this damn handspun! The pet skeins are great and all, but I really do love having new things to wear.

Once I got the merino off the bobbins my fire to spin was re-kindled. I had a hard choice deciding what to spin up next, but because my fibre stash is slowly growing I knew it had to be something bigger. One pound of silver-oatmealy romney is now being spun up into singles and will be mixed with some dark grey gotland. They will become a sweater, eventually. Although at the rate that this stuff is spinning up I don’t think it will take long! My friend Heidi came over for a spinning day with her new wheel (she is sadly blogless) and within a couple hours of spinning, chatting and eating I had 364 yards of this:

Silver Oatmeal Romney

Of course, this is all washed. And I nearly have another full bobbin! Spinning flies when you are having fun. I am hoping that I will be able to cast on for this sweater at some point in December.

And yes, I know not all of you are spinners, so here is some knitting content:

Buttony Sweater

Does it look familiar? The decent answer would be “no”, but the real answer is “yes”. This is the lopi I was using for the leavened raglan, which is frogged. I need to be periodically reminded that if I am indeed going to torture my self esteem by insisting I wear a bulky yarn, the very least I can do is make it into a fabric that doesn’t add even MORE bulk. What was I thinking? Would the leavened raglan, despite all it’s cuteness, actually flatter any figure? Oh well, at least it didn’t take me long to knit (or undo for that matter). This is quickly becoming a frogging blog and that scares me.

Your handspun looks amazing!!! Great job. I’m not a spinner, but I know that it’s on the horizon- one day!!

That handspun is beautiful - definitely can tell it’s so squishy and soft from here! Better pick out something fun to make, I was thinking a BSJ but that would take less than half the yarn that you have.

oh, no, no, no - I am blog-free, not blogless. There is a difference.

The handspun “squishiest merino” is gorgeous. I think you could knit one of EZ’s rib warmer vests with that amount. I tried to look at your aquaphobia socks, put it’s password protected. Is the pattern for sale? Could I just see a picture?
