Knitted Easter eggs
Cute Easter eggs to decorate a branch for Easter. Here they are knitted in slightly muted colors – but that’s up to you.
Use your yarn scraps for the little eggs. Yarn scraps suitable for 2.5mm / 3mm needles
I’ve attached mine with a leather cord as a hanger. It can also be anything else – e.g. linen cord, crocheted cords, sisal cord, etc. It’s all down to taste and what you have in your stash. I mounted the eggs on a plastic egg (6 cm x 4 cm in diameter). They can also be stuffed with pillow filling.
I often use my eggs as a hostess gift – a sweet greeting to those you’re visiting.
You’ll need:
- yarn scraps, needle 2.5/3
- Leather cord or other string
- plastic egg or pillow filling

Materials you will need
To get started with your knitted Easter eggs, you need to gather the following materials:
- Yarn in different colors – preferably leftover yarn
- Knitting needles (size depends on the yarn)
- Sewing needle
- Filling (e.g. cotton wool or yarn scraps) or a plastic egg
- Scissors
Choice of yarn and colors
When choosing yarn for your knitted Easter eggs, it’s a good idea to choose colors that match the Easter theme. Traditional colors like yellow, green, pink and white are popular choices. You can also experiment with different textures and thicknesses of yarn to create variety in your eggs.
Filling and decorating knitted Easter eggs
Filling the egg
Fill your knitted Easter egg with cotton wool or yarn scraps until it has the desired fullness. Make sure to distribute the filling evenly so that the egg has a nice and even shape.
Sewing the bottom of the egg
Use a sewing needle and thread to sew the bottom of the egg together. Pull the thread tight so that the bottom is completely closed. Hide the thread end inside the egg.
Decorating the egg
Now comes the fun part – decorating your knitted Easter eggs. You can use embroidery to add patterns and details. Try embroidering flowers, dots or other Easter motifs on the eggs. You can also add small ribbons or beads for extra decoration. Decorations can also be glued on with a glue gun
