Women’s sweater no. 1 – Charisma

$7.69

Women’s sweater is knitted in Drops Karisma. Knit from the bottom up. First, the body is knitted up to the armhole, then 2 sleeves are knitted, which are put together with the body. Finally, the yoke is knitted, where the body and sleeves are knitted together. It is knitted with a slit in the side at the ribbing at the waist. It gives a nice twist.

The sweater has a minimum of assembly. It has a nice room for movement – it should not be tight-fitting, but preferably have a room for movement around 12-15 cm. Measure yourself at the widest point – the bust circumference at the chest – and add 12-15 cm – or choose the size you want in terms of room for movement.

The sweater is knitted with a raised neck using the “german short rows” method. On the yoke there is a fine pattern knitted with two colors. The pattern consists of knit and purl stitches and is a fairly simple pattern knit, but has a beautiful effect.

Drops Karisma is a yarn that may seem to scratch a bit (for some – not for me). It becomes softer after washing and in use. It is durable and holds its shape and color nicely.

I think the yarn is a good alternative to more expensive yarns. I knit a lot and like to use more expensive yarns as well – but this yarn is a really nice alternative and has a good quality for the price.

Size: S (M) l (XL) 2XL (3XL)

Yarn: Drops Karisma from Garnstudio. Running length 100 meters/50 grams

NOTE: If you choose a different yarn, make sure that the running length fits and you have enough yarn. Likewise, you must choose yarn that fits in the knitting tension/number of stitches per 10 cm.

Yarn consumption:

Colour 2: 200 (200) 200 (200) 200 (200) grams

Knitting tension: 21 stitches in width = 10 cm. Make a gauge swatch. If the gauge doesn’t fit, choose a needle larger or smaller. If the gauge doesn’t fit, then your work won’t get the right measurements either.

Bust circumference: 96 (104) 112 (122) 132 (146) cm. Measured around the chest at the widest point.

Full length: 57 (59) 61 (63) 65 (67) cm. Measured from shoulder to waist

Double pointed needles 3 mm – for the sleeves (ribbed edges). Alternatively, you can use the technique “magic loop” with a long circular needle.

A women’s sweater knitted in Drops Karisma – classic and comfortable

A knitted sweater is a timeless and cozy piece of clothing that never goes out of style. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced in knitting, a knitted sweater is a project that can be both relaxing to work on and satisfying to wear. This article will guide you through the process of choosing the right pattern, the best yarn, and share tips on how to have the best experience knitting a sweater for women.

Why choose a knitted sweater?

A knitted sweater allows you to create a unique piece of clothing that perfectly suits your style and body type. Unlike store-bought sweaters, with a home-knitted version, you can adjust the length, width, sleeves and neckline to your liking. In addition, you can choose exactly the type of yarn and color you like best. For this pattern, Drops Karisma yarn has been used, which is a soft and durable wool yarn, ideal for everyday use.

The advantage of knitting yourself

When you knit your sweater yourself, you don’t just get a piece of clothing – you get an experience. It is a process filled with contemplation, creativity and satisfaction. Many people find that knitting is a form of meditation, where the hands work and the thoughts are put at rest. In addition, a knitted sweater is an obvious gift idea for a special lady in your life – or for yourself.

Choose the right pattern

A good recipe is crucial for the success of your project. There are many different patterns for a knitted sweater, and it can be difficult to choose. Here are some considerations to help you get started.

Difficulty level

If you are a beginner, it can be an advantage to start with a simple recipe that does not require too much assembly or advanced techniques. For example, choose a sweater that is knitted from the top down in one piece. If you have a little more experience, you can throw yourself into pattern knitting, multi-coloured knitting or sweaters with details such as cables and structure.

Fit and size

A knitted sweater should of course fit well. Most recipes include measurements and instructions to help you find the right size. Remember to make a gauge swatch first – especially when using yarn like Drops Karisma, where the gauge has a great impact on the finished result.

Style and design

Think about what style you are going for. Should it be a loose and casual sweater, or a tighter fit? Should it have raglan sleeves, balloon sleeves or maybe a high neck? A knitted sweater for women can be made in countless variations, and it is only the imagination (and perhaps the knitting skills) that sets the limits.

Drops Karisma – a good yarn choice

For this pattern, Drops Karisma has been used, which is known for its good shape stability and softness. The yarn consists of 100% wool and is superwash-treated, which means that it can be machine washed – a practical feature for a knitted sweater that is to be used in everyday life.

Benefits of Drops Karisma

  • Soft and comfortable against the skin

  • Suitable for both children and adults

  • Keeps its shape well after washing

  • Available in many beautiful colors

  • Economical and easily accessible

When choosing yarn for a sweater for women, it is important that it is both durable and comfortable to wear.

How to knit a sweater – step by step

Here is an overview of the most important steps in the work of knitting a sweater.

1. Make a gauge swatch

Before you start, make a swatch to make sure your knitting tension matches the pattern. This is especially important when using yarn like Drops Karisma, as the thickness of the yarn has a great impact on the final result.

2. Cast on stitches

Start by casting on the number of stitches that the pattern indicates. Make sure you have the right needles for both rib and stockinette stitch. A knitted sweater often starts with ribbing at the bottom and at the sleeves.

3. Follow the recipe

Read through the entire recipe before you get started. It helps you understand the construction. Then follow the recipe step by step. Remember to take your time – it’s better to knit slowly and avoid mistakes.

4. Assembly and assembly

If your sweater consists of several parts, they must be sewn together at the end. Many modern patterns avoid this by knitting in one piece. Either way, make sure to fasten the ends neatly and block your finished sweater so that it gets the right shape.

Tips for a successful knitted sweater

Here are some tips that can help you on your way, whether you’re knitting your first or tenth sweater.

Choose the right recipe

Don’t go for the most advanced recipe if you don’t have experience. It is better to succeed with a simple project than to give up on a too difficult one.

Use good yarn

The yarn has a great impact on how your sweater feels and looks. Drops Karisma is a solid choice that combines price, quality and comfort.

Be patient

A knitted sweater takes time. Allow yourself to take breaks and enjoy the process.

Customize as needed

You can always make some adjustments along the way – for example, make the sleeves longer, the neckline smaller or tighten up the ribs a little.

A knitted sweater that lasts for many years

When you have put the time and love into knitting your own sweater, you get a unique piece of clothing that can last for many years. Whether it’s to be worn on cold autumn days, for cozy winter evenings, or as part of your daily outfit, your knitted sweater will be both personal and practical.

Give it as a gift

A knitted sweater is also a thoughtful gift that really shows that you have made an effort. For a lady who appreciates the handmade and personal, it is a gift that will be remembered.

Closing thoughts

Knitting a sweater takes time and commitment, but the rewards are great. You get a knitted sweater that is just the way you want it and that fits perfectly. With Drops Karisma as yarn and a good pattern at hand, you are well equipped to get started on your next knitting project.

Whether you’re knitting for yourself or another woman, you’ll find how satisfying it is to create something with your own hands. And once you’ve knitted one sweater, you’ll probably want to make more.
